SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor (SAM) availability monitoring tools leverage out-of-the-box templates to monitor the components of your servers and applications and to display statistics on intuitive and meaningful dashboards. The Real-Time Process Explorer (RTPE) is available for WMI- and SNMP-monitored nodes and is similar to the Processes tab found in the Windows Task Manager. The advantage of the RTPE is that you no longer need to log in to a particular machine physically or remotely to retrieve that machine's vital statistics via the Task Manager. Information for both monitored and unmonitored processes is displayed directly through SolarWinds SAM. This allows you to diagnose server performance issues quickly by providing real-time troubleshooting information within the SolarWinds SAM web console.

These advanced application alerting capabilities help you recognize and correct issues before your users experience any degradation in performance or availability issues. Additionally, SolarWinds SAM can automatically escalate alerts until a problem is resolved or acknowledged. 

SolarWinds SAM includes more than 16 built-in alert delivery methods and responses including email, pages, SNMP traps, SMS/text messages, syslog messages, and the execution of a script.

Monitor essential hardware statistics

SolarWinds SAM supports monitoring hardware from VMware hosts, Hewlett-Packard (HP) ProLiant, Dell PowerEdge, and the IBM X-Series servers. SolarWinds SAM achieves server hardware monitoring by polling nodes and utilizing the Hardware Monitoring Agent software provided by the hardware manufacturer.
