  • How is Kiwi Syslog Server licensed?

    SolarWinds® Kiwi Syslog® Server is licensed per installation as a perpetual license. This means you can install Kiwi Syslog Server on a machine of your choice, and you have the right to use the Kiwi Syslog Server license indefinitely for an unlimited number of devices—routers, switches, firewalls, servers, etc.

    For the first year after purchase, maintenance is included—you can take advantage of SolarWinds 24/7 support and get access to version upgrades. After the end of the first year, you have the option to purchase yearly ongoing maintenance and support for an additional fee.

  • Why would I need multiple licenses (installations) of Kiwi Syslog Server?

    There are three main reasons why our customers use more than one installation:

     

    Scalability

    Each Kiwi Syslog Server can support the processing of up to two million log messages per hour. If you ever need to accommodate even larger volumes of messages, you can add additional installations of Kiwi Syslog Server and balance the load accordingly.

     

    Distributed Deployment

    If your company is monitoring the logs of multiple clients (as in the case of an MSP) or if your company has several locations of its own, you may want to install a separate Kiwi Syslog Server at each physical location. Each installation can then store logs and generate alerts locally, and they can filter out the unnecessary noise of unimportant messages before forwarding the more critical logs to a centralized Kiwi Syslog Server for consolidation.

     

    High Availability

    Many customers choose to purchase additional Kiwi Syslog Server installations to enable redundancy and failover of log collection on alternate servers for business continuity purposes and to help ensure retention of critical logs.

  • How can I purchase a Kiwi Syslog Server license?

  • What happens after the trial ends?
